Collisions of low-energy electrons with isopropanol
We report measured and calculated cross sections for elastic scattering of low-energy electrons by isopropanol (propan-2-ol). The experimental data were obtained using the relative flow technique with helium as the standard gas and a thin aperture as the collimating target gas source, which permits use of this method without the restrictions imposed by the relative flow pressure conditions on h...
متن کاملCMOS Pixel Sensor Response to Low Energy Electrons in Transmission Electron Microscopy
This letter presents the results of a study of the response of a test CMOS sensor with a radiation tolerant pixel cell design to 80 keV and 100 keV electrons. The point spread function is measured to be (13.0 ± 1.7) μm at 100 keV and (12.1 ± 1.6) μm at 80 keV, for 20 μm pixels. Results agree well with values predicted by a Geant-4 and dedicated charge collection simulation.
متن کاملFree Energy Approaches for Modeling Atomic Force Microscopy in Liquids.
High resolution atomic force microscopy (AFM) in liquids offers atomic scale insight into the structure at water/solid interfaces and is perhaps the only tool capable of resolving the nature of formed hydration layers. However, convolution between the imaging signal and the tip/surface interactions and hydration layers means that interpretation is far from straightforward. Modeling the complex ...
متن کاملA tracking detector for low energy electrons
Amultiwire proportional chamber has been developed to study the properties of a detector for tracking of low energy electrons (0.2–1 MeV). The geometry and the materials used have been optimized to minimize energy losses and multiple Coulomb scattering. The detector is equipped with a special electronic readout and event selection system, consisting of an amplifier=comparator stage, a fast trig...
متن کاملInelastic interactions of low-energy electrons with biological media
A study of inelastic interactions of low-energy electrons with biological media is of fundamental importance in the understanding of radiation-induced actions leading to the biological damage. In the present work, electron energy loss properties in liquid water and solid DNA were calculated based on the dielectric response theory for valence band electrons and atomic models for inner-shell elec...
